Bonnalito07!-AnemoneGigs-HelpAnemonePlayBonnaroo!

Posted on 2/25/2007 by josh.

Soon it will be Bonnaroo time again in Tennessee, and you know what that means! Bonnalito 07! We are already in the works putting together yet another rocking party, with the likes of The Incredible Heat Machine, anemone, DJ Teine and more musical guests!

Speaking of musical, I,Anemone (Josh) have made it my personal goal this year to play at Bonnaroo. As a Manchester local, long time Bonnaroo attendee, and Bonnalito executive I'm trying to get on the lineup at Bonnaroo in some small capacity. We of course are not talking a major stage or an excellent time slot, just somewhere on a side-stage playing music and being part of the Bonnaroo experience would be a small dream come true.

As a Manchester local, husband, and father of two, I don't have many industry connections or do a lot of gigging, so this is an attempt to start a grass-roots petition of sorts to get me, again as a Manchester local, on the bill.

To help, go to this Bonnalito forum thread and vote for anemone. I beg of you, and I promise to rock the thick, heady, woolen socks of all at Bonnaroo!

And speaking of gigs:

the new anemone album

Posted on 7/27/2006 by JOSH.

Check out the new album "the rural sequence" by former junk buddha keyboardist and producer Josh Cochran, aka Anemone. Inspired by the extremes of birth (the birth of a new daughter) and death (a near fatal infection) this 14 track album is a bit of a departure from the current offerings of most bedroom producers.

Taking pages from the vocabularies of acid jazz, rock, IDM, breakbeat, gospel, native american, and downtempo ”the rural sequence” runs the stylistic gamut while keeping its sense of continuity intact. The disc combines the fluid and organic rhodes, organ, piano, mellotron, and synth playing with the repetitive precision of loops, found sounds, and other sonic manipulations.

Clocking in at 55 minutes the 14 tracks are allowed to develop personality, but are also to the point. Many of the tunes smoothly segue into each other and the disc has the ebb and flow of a skilled dj set. If you like keyboards, acid jazz, breakbeats, and/or IDM electronics you will most likely appreciate this album as a long playing original work worthy of several spins on your cd player.

anemone mix from bonnalito!

Posted on 7/27/2006 by JOSH.

while i have been producing and posting tracks for a while now, i have just posted my first mix ever. this mix was done at the bonnaroo pre party, bonnalito, using a laptop and ableton live and recorded by the master soundsman hypothetikal.

much of the music was made by people present at the party and mashed up with rock tunes and other generally non-dj kind of stuff. i know the mix is a little rough around the edges (it was my first after all) but i think it is unique.

please feel free to comment and rate the mashup mix and check out my new album THE RURAL SEQUENCE if you get a chance.

The Return of the EPS

WHOOO DOGGIE! Bonnaloggy! (well see if i can keep up this gay greeting rhyme
thing too..)

well its official. if davis is going to be here, then it is for real, for
sure, going to be a party.

it looks like we have an actual lineup on the music end of things, and we
want everybodies support! there are still a few things that are unsure,
namely if we are going to have turntables, and anyone to spin records on
said turntables. so alex and zavik, if you are down to bring the technics,
let us know, cause i dont think anyone else will have them.

alrighty then, i got a new couch this weekend and had a nice visit with the
fam. i also got some chairs for folks to sit on and i have been scoping out
the firepit this weekend for the pre-bonnalito party at my house. yeah.
word.

also, this weekend i busted out the EPS sampler, one of my first keyboards
in junk buddha. i located such wonderful floppy discs as "fart sounds",
"drumshit" (the drums in max), and "bassnub." this sampler is responsible
for the pretty darn good stand up bass sounds in all the magic boxhead / way
up down south recordings, the early rhodes work on JB stuff and the bass
sound on no one knows. it is truly an ancient piece of crap machine, but
after booting it up 3 times and loading the floppy disc based os it finally
took of. the EPS will see you at bonnalito.

for today we have pictures i took of the junk buddha photo shoot, a sort of
meta-photo shoot if you will. right in line with my style of photography,
they are quirky and poorly done, but provide some amusing shots nontheless.
act now and you can check out all the dumb / cute captions i have posted
along with them. for your limited time offer go to:

Holy Laughin my Ass Offf

Posted on 3/27/2006 by siddhartha.

Love the website. The email was better...holy laughing my ass off,
batman. Here, here to Mr. Hermance. That re-mix of the "VJ" song was
incredible & I was listening to the "whistle solo" song on the stolen
bones cd the other day. God damn, son, that was some sick shit. The
phrasing of what you were doing was fantastic, especially at the very
end of the tune.

Congrats to Mr. Baker. Will miss you much (m...i...s...s...u much) at
the party. I guess somebody has to go to Bombay to get married. By the
way, have you asked yet?

Congrats to Joe and wife for the great news.

**Congrats to Josh Hermance for committing to come to the party, It
will be great to see you and hear some of you (many) stories.

**Josh has not actually committed but we should just assume that he
has. He is coming, we just need to put the pressure on. Yea...that's
it...let's put pressure on a guy who's been carrying around a
semi-automatic rifle in Afghanistan for a few years.

Congrats to Davis for buying a plane ticket to Tennessee, and to
agreeing to perform a few of his "classics" along with some new
material...Look forward to hearing it.

Congrats to Josh for continually spamming us everyday with bonnallito
updates even though I'm sure he is running out of things to say.

Congrats to Ernie for putting together such a kick ass, interactive website.

Congrats to me for holding my bladder this long and typing this email.

Welcome To The Website

Posted on 3/9/2006 by Ernie.

Hello all! Welcome to the new Junk Buddha web page. I know it isn't much on the design end, but I thought it would be appropriate to base the design on the original 1998 Junk Buddha page that I made on MTSU's UNIX server named FRANK using nothing but telnet. It was my first website ever and now I do web development for a living. What this site lacks in pizazz, it makes up for in functionality. I have constructed all pages to incorporate a WIKI style editing system so that all members of the band past and present can use the secret password to gain administrative privledges and edit the pages.

Thanks for stopping by, and please enjoy the free album in our downloads area. I promise, you will be pleasantly surprised.
